Paperbarks Book Launch

Dangerously Poetic Press invites the public to celebrate the launch of Jean Ringland's book, Paperbarks. This will be held at the Yogalates Studio on 72 Byron Street in Bangalow. Jean has lived in the area since the 1980's and was the founder of the Bangalow Writer's Group.  She taught speech and drama to many private students over the years and was a member of the Mullumbimby Women Poets as well as a member of Dangerously Poetic since its inception.

Dr. Shirley Walker, author of Roundabout at Bangalow, will launch the book. As Dr. Walker says in the foreword, "The most obvious aspect of Ringland's poems is their original and true-to-life images from nature. But there is another component; I would call it wisdom. Moving through all the poems is the wisdom of one who has looked carefully and thought deeply."

"Fence-posts, salty plums, a father's felt hat, the joys and sorrows of a life recalled in its autumn years; Jean Ringland takes us on a lyrical journey into Seamus Heaney's 'heartland of the ordinary' and returns us quietly altered," says local award-winning poet, Max Ryan.

A not for profit community organization that has flourished since 2002, this is Dangerously Poetic Press's eighth publication. The afternoon will include classical music, high tea of sweet and savoury treats and champagne.
